Art History Journey
About me
I am an Iranian-Canadian art historian interested in how art reflects and shapes power, identity, and cultural values. My research focuses on painting, photography, and architecture, with particular interests in Early Modern European art and architecture as well as Islamic art and architecture.
Through cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approaches, I explore questions of representation, cultural exchange, collecting, and artistic canons. I am especially interested in how visual culture shapes understandings of memory, belonging, and identity across different historical and geographic contexts.
Through my writing and research, I aim to make art history accessible to wider audiences while encouraging critical engagement with the ways art influences our understanding of culture, history, and place.
